May 10 - Mother's Day Plant Sale

Geraniums, Daisies, and Ferns . . . oh my! What mom can resist flowers?

Join us at the shelter on Saturday, May 10th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to purchase your Mother's Day flowers and plants.

A wide variety of hanging baskets, potted annuals, and herbs will be available for sale. All proceeds benefit the animals and programs at the humane society.

SSHS Spay Neuter Clinic - Coming Soon

Our dream is finally becoming a reality. Over a year in the making will result in the area's first high volume, low cost spay neuter clinic. Our clinic will be located in the Glenwood Plaza on Halsted Avenue. We hope to open the facility this July, so be on the lookout for more information.

Over 40 Animals - Adopted!

SSHS participated in PetSmart's National Adopt-a-thon on May 3rd and 4th. What a success! Over 40 dogs and cats were adopted into loving homes throughout the south suburbs. Thank you to the PetSmart managers in Matteson, Tinley Park, and Crestwood for their partnership with this event. It truly made a differense in the lives of SSHS animals.

390 Felines Spayed and Neutered

SSHS offered low cost feline spay and neuter vouchers this winter in our effort to help reduce this year's influx of kittens into area shelters. We are proud to announce that 390 vouchers were sold during January, February and March. That's a huge difference compared to 2007 statistics. Let's hope we'll see fewer unwanted litters this year.

Book Sales to Help Animals

 

Fostering Champ is based on an event in Sandi's childhood. "I have always been an animal lover," said Mrs. Petee. "I was always bringing home strays. My mother never knew what to expect."

Non-profit animal organizations can buy copies of the book and sell them as a fundraiser and can earn 50% or more profit. If you are an organization that is interested email Sandi.
